This long summer break seems to work, as the Choir members return at the beginning of September, full of enthusiasm for each new season. However, it does mean that the Choir cannot usually undertake engagements during May. June. July and August.

We always perform a Christmas Concert at our "base", Trinity Methodist Church in Shiney Row - and we hold our Annual Celebrity Guest Concert at Ewesley Road Methodist Church in Sunderland.

For some 20 years now we've also performed at a fund-raising Charity Christmas Carol Evening at Dobbies' Garden World, Birtley, choosing a different Charity each year - This year ( Wedneday,Dec 14th., 2011) we shall be supporting the Charlie Bear for Cancer Care Charity, based at the NCCC,Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, a dedicated fund for all Cancer sufferers of any age-group.

 

Our Fund Raising Concert in Chester le Street in May 2011, for victims of the Earthquake and subsequent Tsunami in Japan was a great success. This coincided with the visit of the Dalesmen Singers and the event turned out to be a very worthwhile occasion. The funds raised from Ticket sales were increased by several kind donations, including £200.00 from Komatsu and £80.00 from joint Frendship Force Clubs of Newcastle,Durham & Cleveland, so that we were able to send a total of £1,165.50 to the Red Cross

The Choir's Honorary Secretary (Ron Wilson) would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like the Choir to provide a Concert.There are still some dates available during 2011.
We do not specify a "Fee" - as we are aware that many of the organisations who ask us to sing are raising funds for one reason or another - but we would welcome a reasonable donation towards the cost of music etc.
